How to prepare for questions from the reviewer and supervisor at your thesis defense
The committee's questions often arise directly from the purpose, methods, limitations and comments of the review.

Key information
- ✓Write down all the comments and questions from the review.
- ✓For each methodological decision, prepare a brief justification.
- ✓Practice the answer according to the pattern: thesis, argument, example.
- ✓Don't hide your limitations show how they affect your conclusions.
Reading reviews like question maps
Make a note of the purpose, literature, trials, tools, results and limitations, and prepare one sentence of an answer and two arguments for each.
Defence of methodological decisions
You should be able to explain why the method, test, indicator and method of analysis was chosen. The justification cannot be limited to the conclusion that supervisor suggested this. Refer to the objective and the real conditions of the project.
Questions on results and own contribution
Prepare the three most important outcomes, their significance and limitations, name your own decisions and implementation elements in your project work, distinguish what comes out of the data from the interpretation and suggestions for further action.
Training of responses
Record the answers for about a minute, and then check that the first sentence answers the question. Practice critical questions. The goal is not to memorize the text, but to use the logic of your work freely.
Summary
A good answer doesn't have to be long. It should clearly state the position, justify it with the content of the work, and honestly name the limitations.
Frequently asked questions
What to say when I don't know the answer?
You can honestly point out that the issue goes beyond the work, and you can suggest a way to investigate it further instead of guessing.
